Portable VHF and Beacons

PMR446 is a range of frequencies (446 MHz) that can be used for radio communications without the need for a licence to use the equipment. Portable UHF radios operate in the 403-470 MHz and VHF in the 156-174 MHz area. This covers the maritime VHF band and other licensed frequencies on the UHF band.

Iridium network offers seamless global connectivity through voice, data and messaging services. Iridium LEO network uses L-Band frequencies to communicate with users. These frequencies are more resilient to weather than KA/KU band networks. Data range from 100 Kbps to 704 Kbps.

Fish finding

Echo sounders, current indicator and sonars are critical tools for efficient fish finding. Together with gear monitoring and position this provides you with the best opportunities for your success. Contact us with your needs, and we can together find the best equipment for you.

A device that uses sound waves to detect objects. In the fishing industry, a sonar is used to detect fish, structure, and the seafloor around the vessel, while a fish finder detects these objects directly under the vessel. A sonar detects these objects by emitting sound waves into the sea and detecting the reflected echoes. The sonar can detect and display the distribution, density, and movement of a school of fish at an angle of 360° or 180° in all directions.

Trawl sonar provides a real time monitoring of the net opening and fishing conditions. It can work as a standalone or integrated with catch sensor at the cod end. Integration with underwater camera and door sensors is optional.

Echo sounders, also commonly known as fish finders, are critical tools for finding fish using sound waves.

The technology works by emitting sound pulses into the water, and reflect from the surface of objects or fish in the water. The echo sounder uses the time it takes for the sound waves to return to calculate the distance. Combined with transducer technology from Furuno and Simrad, the echo sounder can also determine both the size and quantity of fish you are looking at.

Multibeam sonar has several transducers that allow a large swath of area to be surveyed at once, making surveying much faster and more accurate. The swath width is determined by the depth of the seafloor being surveyed. The ping is emitted in a fan shape outward from the transmitter normally 120 degrees. This with an accurate position system create 3D models og seafloor with back scattering and fish targets in water column.

This system allows you to measure the range and bearing of each sensor on the trawl. These measurements provide the position of the sensors relative to the vessel and, thus, the location of the trawl. When this position is known, you can avoid wrecks and other obstacles on the seabed, and in case of accidents, it can be an aid to recover the lost gear. In addition, this system can provide the physical location of the gear as an aid for safe navigation in a chart system as OLEX

For a trawler, this systems gives you information about door spread, door stability, geometry, water speed, cod-end filling, and the height of the trawl and trawl doors. For a purse seiner, you get information about net depth, distance to the bottom, sinking rate and temperature.
