Detailed information about our services:

Ocean Electronics delivers comprehensive service solutions for vessels worldwide, available 24/7. Our work spans multiple service categories, from maritime communication service to VDR service, navigation systems, fishfinding technology, remote diagnostics, and certified surveys.

Maritime Communication Service

Our maritime communication service covers the full scope of GMDSS equipment, satellite communication, and radio systems. We install and maintain VHF, MF/HF radios, EPIRBs, AIS-SARTs, and Inmarsat-C terminals, ensuring compliance with IMO requirements (IMO). Through remote diagnostics, our technicians can verify system performance even when onboard access is not possible. This dual capability reduces downtime and secures reliable contact between ship and shore.

VDR Service

The VDR service forms a critical part of compliance with SOLAS regulations. Our team performs Annual Performance Tests (APT) on VDR and S-VDR units to validate that voyage data—including navigation inputs, audio recordings, and system logs—are stored safely and can be retrieved during investigations. We hold approvals from DNV, Lloyd’s Register, and RINA, ensuring international recognition of every inspection. When replacement units are needed, we supply and integrate SAL Navigation VDRs, known for their robust design and compatibility with modern fleets.

Fishfinding and Sonar Service

For fishing fleets, accurate detection equipment is essential. Ocean Electronics delivers installation, calibration, and servicing of professional echo sounders and advanced sonar systems. By adjusting frequency settings, verifying transducer alignment, and ensuring integration with onboard displays, we help operators achieve optimal results in demanding environments. Reliable fishfinding tools not only improve efficiency but also contribute to sustainable fishing practices by enabling precise targeting.

Remote Service

Our remote service allows crews to receive immediate support, no matter where they operate. Using encrypted connections, our technicians can conduct diagnostic checks, reset systems, and recommend corrective actions without delay. Remote access reduces the need for port calls or technician travel, limiting downtime and cost. This service is particularly valuable for vessels on extended voyages or operating in remote regions, where local technical support is not available.

Certified Surveys

We perform both VDR surveys and GMDSS surveys, approved by leading classification societies. These surveys confirm that systems meet international safety and compliance standards. With certifications from DNV, Lloyd’s Register, and RINA, our survey reports are fully recognized for audits, inspections, and flag state requirements. Regular surveys are essential to demonstrate adherence to international maritime law and to secure vessel insurance coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • VDR service includes installation, software upgrades, troubleshooting, and repairs of Voyage Data Recorder systems to keep them fully operational.
  • VDR survey is a certified inspection required under SOLAS, where an Annual Performance Test (APT) is performed by approved technicians and documented for compliance.

A complete maritime communication service covers installation, maintenance, and testing of:

  • GMDSS equipment (VHF/MF/HF radios, EPIRBs, AIS-SARTs)
  • Satellite systems (Inmarsat-C, Iridium terminals)
  • Distress and safety communication links
  • Integration with ship-to-shore and emergency reporting systems

Remote service is highly effective for diagnostics, system resets, and minor adjustments. However, it cannot replace mandatory onboard inspections such as VDR or GMDSS surveys. Remote support is complementary, allowing faster problem resolution until an in-person visit is required.

A GMDSS survey must be carried out by certified technicians and approved by classification societies. It includes:

  • Functional testing of all GMDSS equipment (radios, EPIRBs, satellite terminals)
  • Verification of emergency power supplies and alarm functions
  • Issuance of survey documentation accepted under SOLAS and IMO requirements.
